Intuit got off easy. $170Mil is a small price to pay and Intuit's UI for the same functionality has been horrendous. If they play it right, the MINTuit* juggernaut will finally shut down the 2nd worse personal financial UI: Microsoft Money. *(if they don't change their name to Mintuit soon, I'll be disappointed) Quite frankly, I’m shocked at this. Intuit got off easy. $170Mil is a small price to pay and Intuit’s UI for the same functionality has been horrendous.

Mint was also very smart because it focused all its energy on the front end and user experience (and marketing, of course), while employing a company called yodlee for all the back end tech and account aggregation. Most likely, Mint will now use Intuit's back end magic (bye bye yodlee), hopefully this will not hurt/change the overall good-tasting minty experience. Nice piece.
